Android 9.0 Pie Is Finally Released, Everything You Need To Know

While we were still speculating about the next big update yesterday, following Evan Blass tweet which had suggested the Google Android P would launch August 20, the search giant Google was already on the track waiting to blow the Go whistle.

Just a few hours after Evan Blass update, the search giant started shipping the final version of Android 9.0 to smartphones.

If you’re among fans who has placed their bet on Popsicle, Popcorn, Pistachio, to be the Android 9 name, sad news for you guys — the new Android P is now “Android Pie.”

Google already started rolling out the Android Pie update over the air (OTA) for its pixel devices — Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL.

Interestingly, Essentially phones received update to Android 9 the same day it was released.

All devices that were part of the Android P beta program will start receiving the Android Pie update by the end of the fall.

According to the search giant, Android P is a revolutionary Android OS that “comes with a heaping helping of artificial intelligence.”

Some of the key features includes the iPhone X-like Gesture Navigation, which has replaced the three button navigation, Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery which essentially adapt to your phone usage patterns, Dark mode, revamped Notification shade and a whole bunch of killer stuff.

Not all the expected features will be included in the first release, other features will be rolled out later this year according to a official blog post. Features like Digital Well-being dashboard which tracks the amount of time you spent on your phone and apps like Facebook and others. Slices, which show information slices of apps on the Google search. In the blog, Google gave an example of Lyft app.

However, Google pixel users can still enjoy these exclusive features by installing the beta version of Android 9.0

The search giant also said that Android Pie will release later this year for all the Android One and Beta program devices.

  • Huawei P10, Huawei Mate 10, Honor 9 and Honor View 10
  • Every Moto devices manufactured since 2017

The Android P stable version would soon be rolling out on Android One and Beta program devices.

We all know some devices is yet to receive Oreo update, manufacturers may decide to skip Oreo on some of their devices and update to the latest version. It’s still a guess though.
