Apple has officially announced its first smartphone in 2020, the iPhone SE, a budget-friendly iPhone which comes in a very familiar design. At a glance, you can already tell the iPhone SE 2020 looks like the iPhone 8 while offering the iPhone 6-like compact feel. We can just say the iPhone SE 2 is an iPhone 8 with upgrades.
The iPhone SE 2020 features a 4.7-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with large bezels on the top and bottom. It also comes with the traditional iPhone home button with Touch ID and supports IP67 protection.
The all-new 2020 iPhone uses the same chip as the premium iPhone 11, an A13 Bionic chip paired with 3GB up to 256GB onboard storage. The device will come with one year free Apple TV Plus like every iPhones and will be available in black, red and white color options.
The iPhone SE boasts of a single 12-megapixel camera with LED flash and thanks to the A13 Bionic chip, the device camera will be seeing some improvements and new camera features. The A13 chip will help improve the camera Smart HDR photography, which combines multiple shots into a single photo to improve lighting and detail.
The portrait mode on the device comes with a technology Apple calls “monocular depth sensing.” It uses machine learning to detect depth and faces — which, unfortunately, means that it will only be able to capture people in the mode, others like pets and objects can not be captured.
The camera also comes with optical image stabilization, which Apple says can do “cinematic” stabilization on video as record up to 4K video at 60fps. The front-facing selfie camera is 7-megapixels, and it can also do portrait mode effects.
The all-new iPhone SE 2 uses the same battery found on the iPhone 8, a 1821mAh lithium-ion battery which can do up to 13 hours of video playback and supports Qi wireless charging and 18W fast charging. Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack on the device, this means it is using the Lightning headphones.
