A lot of users are tired of the complex and cluttered look that Android has offered for many years with little to no significant change and want something different.

Well, this time Google listened and is presenting a refreshed design with Android 12.

Custom ROMs is definitely one of the many reasons why I love Android. Even when your device manufacturer has stopped giving your device feature update, custom ROMs has made it possible to stay updated and use your device for a longer period before deciding to get a new one.

DotOS is one of the best custom ROM for Android that has been delivering a smooth AOSP experience since 2017 with several customization options and performance tweak. Like other popular custom ROMs, DotOS ROM brings a better user experience for Android devices and supports a wide range of devices.

So, what is DotOS 5.1 bringing to your device?

The Design

Android 12 comes with several theming options and one of the biggest theming option announced is the “Monet Engine.” This feature simply changes your device theme to match your device wallpaper to give your a more aesthetic feel with your user interface.

DotOS 5.1 introduces a customized version of the new “Monet Engine” as “MonetWannabe.” The MonetWannabe at the time of this only generates an accent colour from your wallpaper, the complete system palette dynamic theming will be coming in a later update and possible supports for Live Wallpapers as well.

The settings UI has been tweaked a bit to match the DotOS design style, it is much cleaner and less cluttered. Also, DotOS team claims the package installer UI has been greatly improved compared to that on the Android 12. It looks way more cleaner, when you compare the redesigned DotOS package installer UI with that of Google.
