How To Get Smartconnect 5.0 100% Double Data Bonus On Airtel – Old Sims

I guess by now you guys must have heard about the new trending data offer. Yes, I mean the  Smartconnect 5.0 100% double data bonus on Airtel.

A few weeks ago, Airtel introduced Smartconnect 5.0, a new Sim which packs a lot of amazing offer to subscribers. The new Sim packs 100% double data bonus on all existing plan on Airtel, you’ll get 1.5GB for as low as N500, 3GB for 1k, 7GB for 2k and 11GB for 2k5. Interesting right?

While some users are already rocking the new Airtel Smartconnect 5.0 Sim card, some users just don’t buy the idea of having to buy a new Sim card so as to enjoy the 100% double data bonus on Airtel.

But, what if I tell you as an existing Airtel subscribe, you can actually enjoy the new double data bonus without buying a new Airtel SIM card.

How to activate 100% double data bonus on Airtel

While I was checking my twitter handle yesterday night, a fellow Airtel subscriber showed how he was able to activate the new data bonus on his old Airtel.

I quickly decided to give it a try and voila!, I was able to activate 100% double data bonus on my two Airtel sims.

Now I feel I shouldn’t enjoy this offer alone, because I know what it means for you guys.

Steps to activate double data bonus on Airtel

If you have already bought the new Airtel Smartconnect 5.0 sim, then, maybe this guide won’t be much relevant to you except you do have an old sim you still want to try on.

Step 1 – Launch your messaging app form your app drawer

Step 2 – Now text GET to 141 in the message app

Step 3 – You’ll receive an SMS replying “Dear customer you’ll receive an SMS shortly”.

Step 4 – It may take a while before you get a response but don’t resend the request. However, if you didn’t receive any response, wait until the next day.

Step 5 – Now, if your request was successful, you’ll get a message welcoming you to the 100% data bonus offer. see screenshot below.

Step 6 – After the successful request, you can now buy data using USSD *141# and select the data plan of your choice.

That’s it, now each time you buy a data plan from Airtel, you’ll be credited with 100% data bonus.

Note, the new double data bonus on Airtel is valid for just 3 months, unlike the previous set of offers which lasted for 6 months.
