Facebook Launches New Dating App, Ready To Take On Tinder

The social media and social networking giant, Facebook has finally launched its long-awaited dating app. If you’re been paying for subscription on dating apps like Tinder, Bumble etc to find a date, you can now start dating directly using Facebook Dating app without paying a penny.

The experience Facebook dating app offers is similar to what you already have on apps like Tinder, Bumble etc, however, Facebook Dating app comes with a feature which uniquely differentiates it from other dating apps, it is called “Secret Crush“. More details about these features will be discussed as you read on.

Facebook Dating is available to users who are 18 and above. Users don’t need to sign up for Dating, you can simply log in with your normal Facebook account. Also, users can create a separate profile for the Dating app if they do not want to use their normal Facebook profile and find potential Dates among their friends or people outside the existing network.

On the parent app (Facebook) users will find a new tap called “Dating,”  which launches the app from Facebook the same way it already does with Messenger.

Facebook Dating also lets you block specific people on Facebook from seeing your dating profile. It also allows users to message one another without matching first. Although Dating is linked to Facebook, you won’t see your Facebook friends in the app unless you use its “ *secret crush* ” feature.

This feature allows users to add up to nine (!) Facebook friends or Instagram followers to a list, and if they secretly crush you back, you’ll both get notified. (The tool only works if both people have set up Facebook Dating profiles.

Users can as well add their Instagram posts directly to their profiles (which people have already been able to do on Tinder and Hinge) and add Instagram followers to their Secret Crush list.

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Facebook Dating app is available for free and interesting, it contains no ads or in-app purchases.

The feature is currently available in 20 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, Vietnam, and the United States.

The product will come to Europe early next year, Facebook said.

If you’re already tired of other dating apps or find it boring, you can give Facebook dating app a trial and your future partner might just one like away.
