Gionee is gradually making a come back in the smartphone space after going bankrupted in late 2018. The popular Chinese phone maker is preparing to launch another smartphone in 2020 and it’s going to have a 10,000mAh battery. That sounds interesting, right?
Phone makers generally have been focusing more on display size, camera and huge battery in 2020 which are some of the important things to consider when buying a new smartphone. A lot of different smartphones have launched with huge battery in 2020, 6000mAh battery is becoming a thing while 5000mah battery is now widely used on most new phones.
Regardless of a phone’s performance, everyone wants a smartphone that will last for long hours/days on a single charge and that is what Gionee is bringing to the table.
Gionee is actually one of the first few phone makers to integrate huge batteries in smartphones way back in 2015. The company launched its M5 with 6020mAh in 2015 and launched another smartphone in 2017 with a whopping 7000mAh battery, the Gionee M2017. At the time, M2017 was one of the most expensive smartphones.

The new Gionee smartphone was spotted on TENNA featuring a 5.72-inch LCD display, powered by an unknown 2.0 GHz octa-core CPU and has different memory options starting at 4GB, 6GB and 8GB with storage of 64/128/256GB respectively. There’s also an expandable microSD slot if you need more storage.
If I am not mistaken, the phone will launch under the rugged phone category because the phone looks more like a rugged smartphone than a regular smartphone.
Unfortunately, it will come preloaded with Android 7 Nougat out of the box which makes the device already outdated before launch. Android 8/9 would have been more appreciated.
The device is dual-SIM with 4G connectivity. It houses a single 16MP camera on the back, just above the fingerprint reader, and there is an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Also, since there was no mention of any fast charge technology which of course it would have, a 20W fast charge support would not be disappointing.
