While dark mode feature for Facebook app is currently being rolled out to a small number of users globally, the company has announced a couple of new features for its leading instant messaging app WhatsApp for mobile users, web and KaiOS platform.
The latest WhatsApp update aims to make conversations more interactive and fun with Animated stickers. The feature has been available on the Facebook app, Messenger for quite some time now and has long been available on WhatsApp counterpart, Telegram.
Unlike the static stickers already available on the chat platform, the animated sticker will give more meaning to a chat by helping you express yourself in a fun way which other users can easily understand. Although these features may not be new to some beta users since it has been available for WhatsApp beta for a while, it will now roll out to all users globally
The update also brings QR codes which has also been available for beta users. With QR codes, you can easily add a new user your contact without exchanging numbers.
WhatsApp has also extended the dark mode for its web version and brought improvements to the group calling. You can now focus on a person during a group video call by zooming the face you want on the screen. This works by pressing and holding on a call screen.
Lastly WhatsApp has extended it status feature to KaiOS devices which lets users share stories that last for 24hr before it disappears.
These features will be rolling out to everyone in the next WhatsApp update in the coming weeks.
