Lenovo To Launch World’s First Foldable Laptop In 2020

Early 2019, foldable phones were all over the smartphone space, we even got to see a real foldable phone from the South Korean tech giant, of course, Samsung that wasn’t much of a success after the launch. While other smartphone manufacturers are yet to officially present there foldable smartphones to the world, Lenovo has taking a step further to tease a foldable laptop which is expected to make appearance in 2020.

Lenovo teased the world’s first-ever foldable laptop in it’s Accelerate conference in Florida a few days ago as part of it’s ThinkPad X1 flagship series.

The foldable laptop features a a 13.3-inch OLED 2K display which has been designed in collaboration with LG Displays. The laptop is full screen (no physical keyboard) and can fold in half just like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Lenovo’s foldable laptop is powered by an Intel processor, no details of it’s in depth tech specs but it is expected to incorporate the latest Intel Core i7 or i9 processor, run Windows operating,

The company said the device is targeted at “highly mobile, tech savvy professionals who demand the best tools”. “This is not a phone, tablet, or familiar hybrid; this is a full-fledged laptop with a foldable screen,” said Lenovo.

The foldable laptop will come with a stylus pen, which makes sense since it’s a full screen laptop without a physical keyboard. You can as well place the laptop on a desk and set it up for a full screen mode with the help of a kickstand at the back. Using this, however, will require an external bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use it as a 13-inch desktop.

The device comes with a USB C and A connectivity option too, which means you can connect external devices to the laptop. The company also said issues related to the hinge, screen durability and protection “have all been addressed” which means there will be no screen problems like the Galaxy Fold faced.

The Lenovo foldable is still a prototype and more details about it is expected to be revealed at the next CES event.
