A few months ago, we heard rumours regarding the launch of the LG G7, the device silently appeared at the MCW 2018 but not many details were revealed. Now, however, LG has announced its very first Android One smartphone, guess what, it’s the LG G7
LG G7 – Android One
Ahead of the IFA 2018 scheduled in Berlin, LG announced G7, it first Android One device. G7 comes with a 6.1- inch QHD+ notch display with a 3120 x 1440 resolution. It’s not surprising why LG has also used the notch, I guess we all know it’s the latest trend in the smartphone display. However, the display also comes with super bright technology and encompasses Boombox speakers, similar to its predecessor LG G7 ThinQ.

The device sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a lower version to its predecessor, the LG G7 ThinQ that arrived with Snapdragon 845. Just as the rumours had earlier suggested, the device holds only 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage and sadly, the phone does not carry a microSD slot.
32GB of storage is definitely not the best LG could come up with and if there’s any reason to why LG has made the 32GB decision, it just isn’t enough. Also, it continues to sustain the headphone jack with quad DAC technology.
In the camera department, G7 may be emulating the Google Pixel’s single rear camera. Although it houses the same camera as the G7 ThinQ. The device has a 16 MP f/1.6 main camera while on the front, it holds an 8 MP f/1.9 selfie camera.
The G7 battery also did not change, it has a 3,000 mAh battery, the same as previous LG ThinQ.
The new Android device will come at an “exceptional price,” according to LG. Which means the device might fall somewhere between premium and mid-range smartphone. Like every other Android One device, G7 will run on Google’s stock Android, instead of LG’s customized OS.
Given that Android Pie unceremoniously came out a few days back, we might spot the LG device on our Android Pie device support list shortly.
In addition, LG has also announced another addition to the G7 series – G7 fit. LG says “ the G7 fit is designed to bridge the gap between mid-range and flagship models.”

G7 Fit packs almost the same specs as the G7 Android one but also some noticeable downgrade. The device houses a Snapdragon 821 processor and lower specs camera. On the other hand, G7 fit has a MicroSD slot, Quad DAC and the 3,000 mAh battery remains the same. Unlike the LG G7 Android One, the G7 fit will run on the company’s own software based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
