Flip phones are gradually coming back into the smartphone space, we’ve seen new Flip phones from tech giants like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, and Motorola Razr offering full touch screen display. The latest entry into the Flip phone segment is the LG Folder 2, an entry-level smartphone and a successor to the first LG folder phone launched back in 2018.
Unlike the new flagship flip phones we’ve seen, the LG Folder 2 retains the traditional flip phone appearance with keypads. Like its predecessor, it has 1GBB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 processor, replacing the MediaTek processor on the first LG Folder phone.
The LG Folder 2 phone features a dual-screen display, a 2.8-inch QVGA main display and a 0.9-inch secondary display on the front for viewing quickly notifications such as text messages, calls, time, battery life and signal status.
LG Folder 2 measures 107.9 x 55 x 18mm dimensions when closed, houses a 2MP rear camera tagged with an SOS key. The SOS functionality can be activated by pressing the SOS Key three times in 1.5 seconds to call a pre-registered phone number and send an emergency SMS with location information. The phone weighs 127 grams.
The all-new LG flip phone is most likely running Android like its predecessor but no details were shared on this. If it’s not running Android OS, then my best guess would be KaiOS.
The device uses a T9 keypad with a hotkey for accessing AI voice service or recording function. It comes with an additional data security feature that prevents against unintentional data charge. Interestingly, the phone comes with 4G connectivity and supports micro SD as well, up to 32GB.
The phone runs on a 1,470mAh battery.

What I think about LG Folder 2 Flip Phone
There’s no doubt the LG Folder 2 flip phone is a good device, however, bringing a level-entry phone with such specs and a $162 price label in 2020 would receive a lot of disapproval from smartphone users when we can get a good entry-level phone like the Nokia 1.3 XpressMusic for about $45.
