After a rather silent appearance by LG at the MWC 2018 it looks like the G7 won’t arrive any soon. We have seen the launch of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Sony Xperia XZ2 at the show and we’ll have to wait a little longer for the LG G7.
Ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2018 trade show, the company on Saturday unveiled the V30S ThinQ. A version of last year’s flagship V30 with slightly better specs and a focus on artificial intelligence.
While we all seem to have lost hope on the early arrival of the LG G7, the Korean manufacturer held a private, closed-door meeting at MWC to show off new hardware and features According to Evan Blass at VentureBeat. images from that meeting appeared to leak online through the Israeli news outlet Ynet.

There were speculations that the leaked image showed a scrapped prototype as the image went so viral. In Blass conclusion: We’re looking at the real LG G7, codenamed “Neo.”
Launch date
There are no concrete suggestions that reveal the launch date of this device. It would be a safe bet to think the LG G7 would come later in the year before the launch of the upcoming iPhone devices so as to avoid potential threats in sales of the flagship.
What should we expect?
The device could feature a 6.1-inch display and a new kind of LCD panel that’s brighter and more efficient than previous-gen LG smartphones. LG planned to switch to OLED screens in its flagships from late 2017. We saw that with the LG V30, so the LG G7 may well have one too and could benefit from the blacker blacks and vivid images that OLED is known for. The phone is expected to include Qualcomm’s latest mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 845 that powers the Galaxy S9, as well as 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. It’s also rumored to be water resistant and capable of charging wirelessly.
As of now, nothing is official. Whether a ‘Neo’ or a ‘Judy’, we can only keep our fingers crossed.
