Microsoft Finally Adds Dark Mode Feature For Windows 10’s File Explorer

Microsoft finally extends its Windows 10 Dark mode feature to Windows 10 file explorer. The Dark mode which users have craved for in the Windows 10 file explorer since the release of Windows Anniversary update is finally is getting support. The new dark UI will be coming in Insiders Preview Build 17666 for the next feature update Redstone 5.

For some reason, some users seem to have this undying love for dark coloured UI feature in today’s technology trend either in-app or OS. Dark coloured UI which are commonly referred to as Dark mode is now being adopted by different companies. If we look around, we will find that on Twitter, YouTube, iPhone, iPad and Androids.

The dark mode feature first made its way to the Windows 10 Os with Anniversary update and if you’ve been using this feature, you’ll discover the dark UI applies to some parts of the Windows 10 OS leaving out the file explorer. Finally, Microsoft has decided to extend the dark mode feature to the file explorer with Preview Build 17666 for the next feature update Redstone 5, the dark theme for Windows File Explorer has arrived for Insiders.

How To Enable Windows 10 Dark Mode in File Explorer?

A lot of users will want to try out this new feature but unfortunately, the dark mode feature for Windows file explorer is yet to make its way to Final builds. However, if you’re a Windows Insiders and you are running Insider build 17666 already, then enabling the Windows 10’s dark mode will be enabled across all the apps and system UI that support it.

To enable Dark Mode, head to the Settings > Personalization > Colors. Now under the ‘Choose Your Default App Mode’ click on the Dark Radio button.

Well, the new dark theme looks great in the File Explorer. However, there are few areas where the shading is off. Well, to fix out existing issues with the dark theme, Microsoft has opted for the user feedback while developing the feature.

Aside from the windows 10 dark mode update, Microsoft also introduced several other improvements in the latest Windows 10 build like better clipboard experience, accessible via Win +V, Bing search option in Notepad, Search previews and much more.
