MTN NG has introduced a new service called MTN Beep Service that allows its customers to reach out to their loved ones whenever they’re out of credit. This service is similar to what Airtel already offers to its customers. It’ll appear as a missed call on the recipient number.
The Beep Service applies to both to on-net and off-net calls. Meaning you can use this service for customers on the same network (MTN to MTN Calls) and MTN to other local networks. This service requires no subscription, it is completely free to all MTN subscribers.
How MTN Beep Service Works?

Customers don’t have to dial any code or add any special symbols like that of airtel to use this service. All you need to do is place a call to other MTN number or numbers or other networks you want to flash like you normally would. You will then hear the usual low credit alert announcement below:
❝Your balance is too low for this call. Dial * 904 * airtime amount# to buy airtime directly from your bank. Thank you❞
Immediately after this announcement, you’ll receive an SMS alert on your number that you have successfully dropped a flash call on the recipients number. The recipient will get a flash call notification (missed call). That’s it.
Each MTN customer has 20 beep service calls to use per day. Although customers would rather have a cheaper data offer that can last longer than what MTN already offers, the new MTN Beep Service will also come handy at a time like this. You can read on the FAQs here.
