MTN Nigeria introduces MPulse prepaid plan for its teen customers or parents with teenagers. The new prepaid plan is targeted at teens and it comes with an amazing data plan at a very cheap price, up to 1.2GB of data for as low as N150. However, for teens to qualify and benefit from the MTN MPulse tariff, they’ll have to be between the ages of 9 – 15yrs, but, hello! this is Nigeria, everybody just turned teen for this offer. lol…

With this new plan in place, the telecom company has again shown Nigerians its devotion to help and equip young Nigerian in school with the resources needed to grow in the digital world.

MTN mPulse Prepaid Plan

MTN mPulse is a basic prepaid plan launched for teens between the age bracket of 9-15years. The plan contains special data bundles which will be useful in their educational field, Special Birthday reward, and many other exciting offers and National calls at 15k/secs.

MTN also created MPulse website and its packed with school material for primary, junior and senior secondary school students to enhance their knowledge. The website contains preparation materials and past questions that’ll prepare students for exams like Common Entrance, JSCE, WAEC, JAMB, POST UTME. Students will also find explanatory videos to on MPulse website.

To access these materials, students have to register on MPulse website and provide the necessary details required. The website also let parent register for their child, so if the child doesn’t know how to use the internet well just yet, the parents can also help them.

Benefits Of Using MTN MPulse

Apart from the huge data bundles, teenagers will also enjoy lots of benefits and offers from the company while on this plan. There will be Special Birthday rewards and National calls will be charged at just 15k/sec, enabling them to call their parents.

  • N200 Birthday Reward: While on MPulse, customers will be rewarded with a birthday gift of N200 only on their birthday.
  • Free WhatsApp: MTN is also offering free WhatsApp service for 7 days every month for teenagers. This will enable them to chat with their parents and classmates. However, they do have to recharge N100 every month to enjoy this.

A. If you have mPulse Special data bundle and regular data bundle active, whenever you visit the mPulse website, data will be charged from your mPulse special data bundle and when you’ve exhausted your data bundle, your regular data will then be charged.

Also, if you have mPulse Special data bundle and regular data bundle active, when browsing on other websites you’ll be using your regular data bundle and when you have finished the data bundle, your data activity will be suspended until you buy another regular data bundle or opt-in for PAYG browsing.

Q. Will my mPulse Special data bundle auto renew?
A. Your mPulse Special data bundle will only auto renew on the day of expiry if you selected ‘Recurrent Purchase’ at the time purchase and as long as you have enough airtime.

Q. As a parent, I want to be transferring from my airtime/data to my child’s number on a periodic basis
A. For parents to transfer airtime/data to their child’s number, on a periodic basis, they’ll have to follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: First of, register for Parent-Child linking service by dialling *344*5*1#.
  • Step 2: Once you have registered for the service, you will be required to register your child’s number as your beneficiary by dialling *344*5*1#. You can also do this via MyMTNNApp or mPulse website.
  • Step 3: Upon dialling *344*5*1#, you will be required to enter your Child’s number, select the Product type (either Airtime Weekly, Data Weekly, Airtime Monthly or Data Monthly), after which you select airtime or data value then your self-care. NB: You can’t share airtime or data on a daily basis aside from the predefined option.
  • Step 4: Once the system receives your request, it will check to confirm if you have enough airtime to complete your transaction. If you have enough airtime, the transaction will be completed.

Q. Must I the Parent be on mPulse to enjoy Parent-Child linking service?
A. No, as the Parent, you can use Parent-Child linking service on any tariff plan BUT your child MUST be on mPulse to benefit from the service.

Q. How many children number can I add to my beneficiary list?
A. You can add up to a maximum of six (6) child numbers to your beneficiary list.

Q. How many parents can a child be linked to?
A. A child can be linked to a maximum of 2 parents at a time.

Q. Will I be able to transfer airtime and data on the same transaction?
A. No, you are only allowed to transfer one after the other.

Q. I selected Airtime/Data Weekly during my transfer. Will I be able to change it to Airtime/Data Monthly?
A. Yes, you can change your periodic transfer by dialling *344*5*4#, select the Child’s number you want to change the frequency, select the new Product type, new Product value and then enter your self-care PIN.

Q. Will I be able to receive airtime/data from my Parent if I migrate from mPulse to another tariff?
A. No, you will be automatically unlinked from your Parent’s beneficiary list immediately you migrate out of the mPulse plan and you will no longer be able to receive airtime/data from your parent.

Q. My Child migrated out of mPulse but has migrated back to the plan; can I transfer airtime/data to the number?
A. Yes, you will have to add the number again to your Beneficiary list by dialling *344*5*2# and then follow through the steps.

Q. How can I get my self-care PIN code for the airtime/data transfer?
A. Simply dial *344*5*8#, then enter the following details:

  • Mother’s maiden name
  • Date of birth. E.g. dd/mm/yyyy
  • State of Origin

Once the system confirms that all the information provided are correct, it will send you your self-care PIN.

Q. Will I be able to view my airtime/data transfer history to my Child’s number?
A. Parents will be able to view airtime/data transfer history by dialling *344*5*7# and the system will display the product shared, amount shared and date of sharing.
