Popular Chinese phone maker OnePlus has finally launched its long-awaited budget smartphone, the OnePlus Nord. The device was unveiled today at the world’s first AR smartphone launch event and it shares a lot in common with the flagship OnePlus 8 that launched in March 2020.
OnePlus Nord features a 6.44-inch AMOLED hole punch panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is also available in OnePlus 8. The device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 765G 5G mid-range SoC and paired with up to 12GB RAM. The OnePlus Nord features a very simple glossy design finish.
The smartphone houses a quad-camera setup on the rear with a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro sensor, and 2MP sensor for portrait shots. The rear camera also features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for smooth video recording. On the front, OnePlus Nord has 32MP + 8MP camera setup. OnePlus Nord is also the first smartphone from the company to come with a dual selfie camera.
The device comes in three different memory option, a 6GB/64GB, 8GB/128GB and a 12GB/256GB which cannot be expanded with a micro SD card. The smartphone comes with OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10 out of the box. For some reasons, OnePlus has decided to use Google’s Phone and Messaging app as default in the OnePlus Nord device instead of its own customized apps.
OnePlus Nord is fueled by a 4,100mAh battery that supports Warp Charge 30T fast charging. You’ll be able to charge the device up to 70% in just 30 minutes.
