OPPO Launches Its 125W Super Flash Charge Technology

OPPO has officially launched its new 125W Super Fast charge technology which promises to charge a 4000mAh battery from empty to full percentage in just 20 minutes. Alongside the 125W flash charge technology, Oppo also announced three new sets of charging solutions — a 65W AirVOOC wireless charge, a pocket-sized 50W mini SuperVOOC charger, and a 110W mini flash charger.

OPPO 125W Super Flash Charge Technology

The 65W wireless charging AirVOOC dock is a remarkable upgrade over the first 40W wireless charging dock which launched in April 2020 and is able to charge a 400mAh battery full in 30 minutes like the wired option. The 110W and 50W compact GaN chargers are also on the way if you’re looking for a high-power plug with a little less bulk.

Unlike the 40W AirVOOC wireless charger, the 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge uses a completely different design. It adopts a circular design for better cooling, uses a glass panel for heat dissipation, and “self-developed isolated charge pump technology” with parallel dual-coil design to increase wireless charging efficiency.

The new AirVOOC wireless charger using the same charging mechanism as the wired 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 – it charges two coils simultaneously and takes about 30 to fully charge of a 4,000 mAh battery. This is also similar to Vivo’s iQOO 120W flash charge technology that was launched two days ago.

With the 125W super flash, normally the battery life and even a smartphone will be at risk, but Oppo is able to keep the phone’s battery under 40°C, while flash charging and also prevent battery degradation. This is achieved using three parallel charge pumps that split the power, and Oppo has implemented 10 additional temperature sensors for extra safety.

The 125W charger is compatible with USB Power Delivery (PD) at 65W, and USB Power Delivery Programmable Power Supply (PPS) at 125W. This makes Oppo’s new charger a one-size-fits-all solution for virtually all your gadgets.

At the moment, there is no telling if the 125W super flash charge will have negative effects on the battery’s life span later on but nonetheless this new technology is needed.
