Xiaomi has now launched the Redmi 8 successor device in China, the Redmi 9. As you would have expected, Redmi 9 is a budget device and pocket friendly. The devices was first unveiled in Europe earlier this month, now, the company has launched for the Chinese market.

The Redmi 9 is sports a 6.53-inch LCD display with 2340×1080-pixel resolution. The device takes its design inspiration from the Redmi Note 8 Pro and runs the Helio G80 SoC.

The device houses a quad-camera setup on the rear – a 13MP main paired with an 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor units. This is also a fingerprint reader just beneath the camera alignment. You’ll find an 8MP selfie shooter sitting inside the waterdrop notch that supports AI Face Unlock,.

The Redmi 9 comes in three memory options, a 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB. It comes wih micro-SD card support up toup to 512GB. The device also comes with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and and retains the 5,020mAh battery which we saw on the Note 9 series. Of course, there is a 18W Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support via USB type-C port.

Sadly, the bundled adapter can only charge the phone at up to 10W, for a faster charging, you’ll need to spend an exttra cash on adapter.

The Redmi 9 device is priced

  • 4GB/64GB priced at CNY799 ($115/N41,400)
  • 4GB/128GB priced at CNY999 ($140/N50,400)
  • 6GB/128GB that costs CNY1,199 ($170/N61,200).
