We have seen a number of ‘Sparks’ from Tecno Mobile, but we still have to add this one to the list as Tecno launches the Tecno Spark 2. This device is supposedly the Tecno K7 successor. It has one or two upgrades to its name when compared to K7 even though I am unimpressed by all that (if you ask me).
Tecno Spark 2 features a 6-inches display with 18:9 aspect ratio, It comes with 1GB of RAM with 16GB of storage space, 64-bit Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 and dual Nano SIMs slots as against the previous Spark devices.
The recently launched mobile device runs Android 8 Oreo Go Edition from out of this box, which means it might likely get android P upgrade.

Tecno spark 2 design
The design of this smartphone is definitely one of the high points. Slim, sleek and is about 6.0 inches which is just about good enough to house all the fancy. The curved antenna lines at the top corner make this device a lot more attractive. On the rear is the camera, indented towards the left side with the LED flash aligned vertically to it. While the fingerprint scanner finds itself at a more centre position.
The display
Spark 2 was designed to deliver a full view experience for the pleasure of its users. Close to adopting the Samsung edge-to-edge feature to give that cinema experience in HD. 18:9 in aspect ratio, 6-inch HD + IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, a 1440 x 720 resolution and 268 pixels per inch density. With the TECNO Spark 2, you’ll get 75% screen and 25% bezels.
Are you ready for Samsung ‘Beyond’ S10 ??
Spark 2 camera
A commendable camera too for this device, although not in the league of the Camon X of this world and similar products but its quite impressive for its price. The 13-megapixel (rear) and 8-megapixel (front) component also feature Autofocus, HDR, Beautify, Mode, ISO, Scene selection.
Hardware and software
It debuts out of the box with the Oreo Go Edition and we are all excited about that. So, that means a HiOS + Android Oreo Go Edition is what we have on this budget smartphone. Now, let’s move to the hardware where all the mediocrity begins.
The device is powered by the MediaTek MT6580WP which is a Quad-core processor having a 32-bit CPU architecture. The Quad-core processor clocks at the normal speed of 1.3GHz and operates on the 28nm process technology. In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-400 MP2 clocks at 416MHz.
Now the device rubberstamped its status as an average device with a 1GB RAM and you get 16GB of internal space. However, you can always upgrade up to 32GB with a memory card.
Network, Connectivity and Battery life
Its a dual SIM device with both slots accepting Nano SIMs only. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G. Sensors on the phone include a Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor.
The TECNO Spark 2 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3500mAh battery. That can guarantee a whole day of seamless phone usage but…
….wait for it…..
There is no fast charge feature.

Tecno Spark 2 in my opinion
- Its 2018 and Tecno has released a truck-load of 3G smartphones. It makes me wonder if Tecno 4G devices wouldn’t offer enough quality or are they just about the
affordability? - Spark 2 will be rated highly for its external features; it’s been really decent
for the very nice architecture. If phones were judged by their appearances alone, Tecno spark 2 would have been a top-top device. - Tecno has launched so many mid-range devices but this one just doesn’t cut it for me. The margin between the predecessor and successor is just too thin. As a matter of fact, We can argue that Tecno spark plus is better than Spark 2 on paper. The plus will match this device in almost all departments and even has up to 2GB RAM more than spark 2. Why then why is it a successor?
