Stable Version Of Tor Browser For Android Now Available On Play Store

The Tor project community has finally released a stable version of Tor Browser for Android in Google’s PlayStore after several months of testing. Tor Android browser version 8.5 will give you the same PC experience on mobile while also replacing the Orbot/Orfox browser as the main channel to connect to the Tor network via Android devices.

The new Tor Android browser routes all your web traffic through the Tor network (a web of encrypted computers spread worldwide). Your traffic bounces between several nodes on the Tor network before arriving at its destination ensuring that you remain anonymous on the web and protecting your privacy.

Tor browser bypasses geographic restrictions to provide full access to websites and contents that are blocked for your region. The Tor Project community has made sure that there are no proxy bypasses when you’re using the web and first-party isolation is enabled in the browser to protect users from cross-site tracking.

According to the official blog post, the Tor team stated that even though there are some feature gaps between the desktop browser and Android Browser, “Tor Android Browser will provides essentially the same protections that can be found on desktop platforms.”

The team also highlighted that an official Tor Browser for iOS cannot happen due to restrictions by Apple. But recommends the Onion Browser (developed by Mike Tigas) for iOS users who wishes to use Tor network.

As you may already know, Tor Browser is built on Firefox browser, so you get the Firefox feels and experience while connecting private mode, etc.

Mozilla is reportedly working on possible means to integrate the Tor protocol into Firefox and this feature will be called the Super Private Browsing Mode.

So, if you’re looking for a Android browser to explore the Dark web, Tor Android browser is the way to go.
