Tecno Mobile has finally launched its latest Camon device series, the Camon 16. The series includes three new devices, the Camon 16, Camon 16 Pro, and the top of line model Tecno Camon 16 Premier which debuts with MediaTek’s Helio G90T gaming Soc.
The Camon 16 Premier is Tecno’s first attempt into the gaming smartphone segment and it comes premium like touch. The device features closely similar specs as the newly launched Infinix Zero 8 or should I just say the replica of the Zero 8 in another body.
Since both Infinix and Tecno are subsidiaries of Transsion holdings, I guess we can’t say one copied the other. Anyways let’s find out what both device have in common in the details below.
Tecno Camon 16 Premier Specifiactions And Features
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier features a 6.9-inch display with 1080×2460 pixels resolution, 90Hz Refresh Rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and house a dual 48MP main + 8MP wide-angle selfie cameras.
The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, four rear cameras that are housed in a squared bump with the LED flash. The device appears to have a gradient finish on the outside (rear) and it comes with DTS Audio for great audio and video sound.
The Camon 16 Premier is powered by one of the best mid-range processors, MediaTek’s Helio G90T gaming processor (with Mali-G76 MC4), and paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which can be expanded via its dedicated micro SD card slot.
The rear cameras include a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor and a quad-LED flash and can record video in 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps.
Like the Zero 8, the Camon 16 Premier also features a multi-dimensional thermal cooling technology that helps prevents the device from over heating during game play or heavy usage.
The device runs HiOS 7 based Android 10 out of the box and is fueled by a 4,500mAh battery that comes with support for 33W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. The 33W fast charging technology will charge the device from 0 to 100 in less than 45 minutes.
As for the connectivity, the device sports dual 4G LTE Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, GPS, FM radio, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The sensors onboard include an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and fingerprint which is embedded into the power button.

The Tecno Camon 16 Premier device comes in Glacial Silver colour option only and already available for sale in Kenya. It is priced KES28,999 (about $275) for the 8GB/128GB memory option and will come with free TWS Hipods in the retail package.

As for the Camon 16 Pro and the base model, the company hasn’t revealed any details on them as well as the global launch. If my guesses are correct, the Camon 16 Pro will most likely come with the Helio G70 Soc/G80 while the base model will use one of the Helio P series chipsets. I guess we’ll see more details in the coming week.
