Tecno Mobile launches a new member into its Spark series portfolio and the successor to the Spark 7 that launched about four months ago — the Tecno Spark 8. The Spark 8 device was released into the Nigerian market without any announcement and bags entry-level specs.
The Spark 8 isn’t much of an upgrade you’d expect from a successor and if you already own a Spark 7, I’ll advise you to stick with it or better still, go for one of their newest Camon devices. There isn’t a big difference in the specs, the design, however, comes with a slight tweak.
Tecno Spark 8 is built around a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 which is the same configuration on the Spark 7. The display uses a waterdrop notch design which houses the 8MP selfie camera.

At the rear of the device, there is a 16MP dual camera with a quad-led flash arranged on an unusually wide camera bump. The bump extends past the middle of the device rear while capturing the fingerprint reader in it. Also, the device comes with a large printed label that reads “Stop at Nothing” alongside the Tecno Spark logo that is just above it.
The Spark 8 is powered by an improved Helio P22 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that can be further expanded with a microSD card slot. It runs Android 11 OS (Go edition) with the latest HiOS 7.6 skin ontop.
Under the hood, there a 5000mAh battery with support for 10W charging via a micro USB port. The Tecno Spark 8 is priced at 55,000 Naira (~ $130). There is no word on the global launch yet, however, the device is expected to arrive in India soon.
