Vitaminwater, a subsidiary brand of the Coca-Cola company has issued a contest primarily for smartphone addicts. The contest challenges smartphone addicts to live without a smartphone for a complete year (365 days) and claim a price of $100,000.
Participating in the contest is very simple, all you need to do is share a post on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #nophoneforayear and #constest.
Additionally, participants will have to explain why they need a break from their smartphone and what they’d be doing with the time they’d generally spend on their smartphones.
This contest is opened to all legal residents of the U.S. who are aged 18 or older and own a smartphone and interested individuals have until 11:59 p.m. ET on January 8, 2019, to enter the contest.
Thereafter, the company will select final participants based on their own criteria. Some of which includes; originality, brand relevance, humor, and other factors.
The company also stated in the contest official rules that individuals who use their smartphone primarily for work and other commitments are not qualified to apply for the contest.
Vitaminwater will also subject participants to a lie detector test to make sure that the contestant is honest and is following all the rules. This way participants will not be able to cheat for the contest.
The company understands this is going to be a very hard challenge especially for this generation, so they have decided to let participants revert to a 1996-era mobile phone for an entire year but won’t be allowed to use any smartphone or tablet even if it belongs to your friends or relatives.
Interestingly, participants are allowed to use laptops or desktop computers and other voice-assistant based devices like Google Home or Amazon Echo, so it’s won’t be such a boring 365 days for participants.
Lastly, if any contestant manages to pull off the challenge for 6 months, he/she will be entitled to receive $10,000. So, you’re not totally out of options.
