The well-known Taiwanese phone maker, of course, HTC is known for making respectable devices. Five months ago, we saw the launch of HTC U12 and U12+ squeezable smartphones which gained a lot of attention and now the tech giant seems to have taken a big step ahead of other manufacturers by introducing a Blockchain driven smartphone, the Exodus 1.
The first question that crosses your mind is whether this actually is a smartphone or simply a crypto wallet.
Well, HTC Exodus 1 is an Android smartphone which incorporates the Blockchain technology. The device includes a cold storage wallet that lets you store kinds of cryptocurrencies, as well as decentralised apps. The phone is focused more on security, it doesn’t only stock cryptocurrencie, but also personal keys and all your digital identity.

HTC has also made a social key recovery mechanism as to help you recover your keys, they’ve also made it cool by letting you keep your recovery details with a few trustworthy individuals who’d have to download a key management app. Using a secret sharing algorithm, HTC will send the info to that person and used it later on.
HTC has also made it possible for developers to developers their own key management app and wallers for the Exodus 1.
In terms of specs, Exodus 1 sports a 6-inch QHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device features a dual selfie camera which includes and a dual 16MP setup with features like bokeh mode and full 4k video recording at 60 FPS.
HTC Exodus 1 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, it comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The devices runs the most recent Android OS which is Oreo OS and it has a built-in 3,500 mAh battery. Exodus 1 is dust as well as water resistant too with a rating of IP68.
Price And Availability
Since Exodus 1 is a Blockchain powered smartphone, you can buy it only through cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereumnly. The device would cost you about 0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH which is equivalent to USD 960.
Exodus 1 is already up for preorder as of now, the devices is expected to be shipped sometime in December.
However, Exodus 1 is available as an early access edition for consumers in 34 countries at the moment, including the US, UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong but won’t be available in China because the country has rules that prohibit cryptocurrency trading.
