If you’re an Android user, you’ve probably heard or even used the YouTube Vanced app. Vanced is a video client app that lets you stream YouTube contents for free without ads, you also the background play feature and all other YouTube Premium features on Vanced for free.

Vanced is undoubtedly the best YoutTube app alternative. It recently updated and added the dislike counter feature back for fans, a feature YouTube is no longer interested in keeping on its platform. While it may not mean a lot to the normal users, its a sad news for Vanced users that the app is being discontinued.

YouTube Vanced has been providing all YouTube’s premium features for free since 2018 along with some modifications to make the experience better. The search giant (Google), however warned Vanced developers and even placed allegations like violating YouTube rules and regulations.

Youtube Vanced has taken to their social media pages to announce the discontinuation of the Vanced app stating that all download links on the website would be taken down soon. Although the YouTube Vanced app will no longer receive future updates, Vanced has confirmed that the current installations would continue to work fine until they become outdated.

Google Sent a Cease Letter to Vanced Developers

Not long Google sent the Vanced developers a cease letter, which forced the developers to stop distributing and developing the app. On Discord, an admin from the Vanced team said, ” We were asked to remove all references to ‘YouTube,’ change the logo and remove all links related to YouTube products.”


Even after the Vanced app had undergone some rebranding like changing its name from YouTube Vanced to just “Vanced,” and it removed most mentions of YouTube from its website, the app finally meets its end.

Vanced in their official announcement also mentioned that “We know this is not something you wanted to hear, but it’s something we need to do. Thank you all for supporting us over the years.”
